Driving directions from the nearest airports, New York City, and Western Massachusetts
https://www.mbl.edu/driving-directions/
By Air
Logan Airport (BOS) in Boston, Massachusetts, and the T. F. Green Airport (PVD) in Providence, Rhode Island, are the two closest major airports. For driving directions from both airports, see the link above. Both airports are serviced by major car rental companies.
There is bus service from Logan Airport to Woods Hole via the Peter Pan Bus Company: https://peterpanbus.com/. The route would be Boston (Logan Airport) to Woods Hole. Round-trip fare from Logan is $83. Note: avoid the 3:00 pm bus from Logan to Woods Hole, as that is a much longer trip than all the others. There is no direct bus service from Green Airport.
By Bus
The Peter Pan Bus Company has service from one location in New York City (Port Authority Bus Terminal), and two locations in Boston (Logan Airport and Amtrak's South Station). From New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal, departure on 9/22 at 8:30 am; arrival in Woods Hole, MA at 3:45 pm. Return from Woods Hole on 9/26 at 10:30 am, arrival in NYC at 4:50 pm. Other return trip options are also available.
By Rail
Amtrak serves two stations in Boston, Back Bay Station and South Station. The Peter Pan bus to Woods Hole stops at South Station but not at Back Bay Station. Both Avis and Budget have a location across the street from Back Bay Station, but there are no nearby car rental agencies near South Station.
